Founder & President, Expero Inc.

 

Lynn is the Founder and President of Expero and oversees Expero's service offerings and business strategy. Lynn has an extensive background in user experience, ranging from graphical and voice-driven user interfaces for wearable devices to creating enterprise software solutions used to streamline the business processes of Fortune 500 companies. Her recent project work includes clients such as Lincoln-Mercury, Dell and Charles Schwab/CyberTrader.

Prior to founding Expero, Lynn was Director of Product Management at 2Vox, an early-stage company focusing on wireless security technologies. She also worked as a Consulting Manager at Reactivity, a company providing services to start-ups and spinning out new ventures. There Lynn managed consulting engagements, gathered product requirements and designed the user experience for products. Before Reactivity, Lynn led the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Team at Trilogy. She established user-centered design as an integral part of the Trilogy software development process. Her team delivered hundreds of user interfaces to clients such as IBM, GM, Ford, Sun, NCR and Hewlett-Packard.

In 2003, Lynn was nominated for an Austin Under 40 Award, which recognizes Austin citizens under 40 who have excelled in their professions and demonstrated service to the community.

Lynn has spoken on various topics related to user experience and design in many forums and professional seminars, such as Carnegie Mellon University’s HCI Institute, Cornell University’s Media Lab and ACM’s SIG-CHI conference. Lynn holds a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University.

 


Co-Founder & Principal, User Research

 

Dr. John Morkes is Co-Founder and Principal at Expero and heads the User Research group. He is an expert in content usability research, collecting data, and validating requirements and UI designs with end-users through a variety of techniques.

John has a Ph.D. from Stanford University and Master's and Bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University. He has worked in the user experience field for 12 years and was a high-tech journalist for 5 years before that. His recent clients include Intel, Ford, TiVo, Dell, Pfizer, Charles Schwab/CyberTrader, Trilogy, and Symantec/WholeSecurity. Previously, John was director of Trilogy’s Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) team and established that company’s usability program and usability lab. While at Trilogy, he led efforts to improve usability of Nissan and Ford websites, which Forrester Research rated as the two best consumer sites in the industry. He also has worked as a usability engineer for Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems (with Dr. Jakob Nielsen) and as a journalist for Wired and Research & Development magazines.

John is a published researcher and a frequent speaker at user experience conferences. Since 2000, at Nielsen Norman Group conferences around the world, he has given tutorials on Content Usability, Competitive Usability Testing, and Interviewing & Survey Techniques.
